the rosary

The rosary is prayed every day after the 8:15 am mass in the church. Everyone is welcome to join.

In the Catholic Church, the rosary is one of the most cherished prayers. For Catholics, it is a powerful prayer of intercession to the Blessed Mother. Praying the rosary is promoted as a means of strengthening one’s faith, resisting evil, growing spiritually, and generally benefiting society.

The word rosary comes from Latin and means a garland of roses, the rose being one of the flowers used to symbolize the Virgin Mary. If you were to ask what object is most emblematic of Catholics, people would probably say, “The rosary.” Catholics ask the Blessed Mother to bring their prayers to Her Divine Son and plead for His aid. Catholics bring Rosary intentions to Mary with the hope that their request will be answered.

The rosary is a devotion in honor of the Virgin Mary. It consists of a set number of specific prayers. First are the introductory prayers: one Apostles’ Creed (Credo), one Our Father (the Pater Noster or the Lord’s Prayer), three Hail Mary’s (Ave’s) and one Glory Be (Glori Patri).

What is Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration?
Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration is private prayer and time before Jesus, really present in the Blessed Sacrament displayed on the altar 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Where does Perpetual Adoration take place?
Eucharistic Adoration takes place in Our Lady, Mother of the Eucharist Perpetual Adoration Chapel. It is located south of the church at 799 S. York St. and is open to all visitors from 6am to 10pm (keycard access for registered adorers from 10pm to 6am).

Why is Perpetual Adoration so important?
Adoration is your personal time with Jesus. It brings together the entire faith community of Visitation and the surrounding Elmhurst area into one continuous prayer and unites our intentions and concerns. Many miracles and blessings have been witnessed with Adoration. Jesus asks: “Could you not keep watch for one hour?” Mk 14:37

What blessings can come from Adoration?
Some graces and blessings can include healing of troubled marriages, sicknesses and diseases, return of fallen-away Catholics and conversions to the faith, employment found, increased vocations to the priesthood and religious life, incredible inner peace and much more!

Who can go to Adoration?
Everyone is welcome! You don’t have to be a Registered Adorer, but over time, you may feel that the Lord is calling you to sign up with a weekly commitment.

What is the time requirement to be a Registered Adorer?
Registered Adorers make a commitment to be with our Lord at the same hour and day each week. It is ideal to have at least 2 adorers for each hour (to cover sick days or vacations, etc) to make sure Jesus is never left alone. Substitutes are available if a problem arises.

What do I do during Adoration?
There is much to choose from! You can pray informal or formal prayers, journal, sit in silence, read a religious book, pray the rosary or Divine Mercy Chaplet, meditate on the Eucharist, or just bring your concerns to Jesus. The main point is general reverence towards the Holy Eucharist. This is your personal time with God.

Can I bring my kids?
Yes, absolutely. Adoration is for kids and whole families, too. It is a special quiet place to be with Jesus. Short visits are sometimes the best way to introduce little ones to Jesus in Adoration.

flame of love devotions

The Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is the fruit of a private revelation reportedly recieved by Elizabeth Kindelmann in 1962 in Budapest.

The devotion is celebrated in the Crypt of the Saints on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm.

Join us as we study the writings of Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta, an Italian mystic, and pray with us as we discern the will of God in our lives. Meetings occur on Mondays at 8:45am in the Hospitality Room.

the crypt of the saints

The Crypt of Saints is located below the Adoration Chapel. Over 700 statues, icons and relics are dsiplayed in the chapel. Over 600 books about saints are available for your research or reading enjoyment while in the Crypt.

Open to the public every Sunday from 9 am to 1:30 pm.

first saturday devotions

We extend a warm invitation to all parishioners to join us once a month for the Five First Saturdays Devotion in honor of Mary’s Immaculate Heart, beginning with 8:15 am Mass. Devotion follows with 45 minutes of prayer, reflection, and meditation.
devotions in honor of st. peregrine

Please join us in the church every third Thursday at 7:00pm for prayer for those suffering from cancer, and for all of our sick. St. Peregrine relic will also be available for a special blessing and a priest will also provide the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. All are invited.
