The Gabriel Project
Project Gabriel
Visitation is proud to be a part of the Chicagoland Gabriel Project. This ministry is a parish outreach to women and families facing a crisis pregnancy. Thank you for looking at our web page, please continue to check this site as it will be periodically updated.

How the Project Works
An expectant mother calls the 888-4-HOPE-4-1 Hotline from a Project Gabriel parish sign or bumper sticker and is then paired with a trained volunteer called a "Gabriel Angel." The Angel offers her a listening ear, a caring heart, prayer, and spiritual friendship. Material support such as clothing and baby equipment is also provided. Angels have information on areas services such as housing resources, healthcare/medical agencies, family shelter services and Catholic Charities Adoption Counseling.

bullet We need someone with a pickup truck to occasionally deliver furniture to families being helped. Clients are rarely more than fifteen miles away.
bullet We need assistance organizing and storing items in a "Mother's Closet" for women that need baby supplies and clothing.
bullet We need women to serve as Angel Friends to pregnant women. Angels work as a team of three to four volunteers assigned to assist a client. Training is provided. The average time commitment is 2 to 3 hours per month.
bullet Visitation currently has 15 trained volunteers for Project Gabriel. We are always looking for more. Angels are friendly, non-judgmental, caring individuals. No prior experience is needed. Free training is provided. If you are interested in learning more please contact our coordinator Rosemarie Pollitz 279-3442.
